Post Graduation Work Permit Program

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience. Skilled Canadian work experience gained through the PGWPP helps graduates qualify for permanent residence in Canada through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Under this program, international graduates may obtain ,depending of the length of the study program, a  up to three year open work permit,  allowing them to work for any Canadian employer in any industry.

Employers seeking to employ open work permit holders are exempt from the requirement to first obtain a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Service Canada.

To be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, international students must meet with all the requirements and apply within a certain time-frame.  One of the requirement is that students must have completed and passed a qualified program of study from a Designated Learning Institute (DLI). Make sure your program qualifies. Not all designated learning institutions (DLIs) offer PGWPP eligible programs.  Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has published a list with all DLI’s and if they offer PGWPP  eligible programs.

If you want to know more if you are eligible for this program or want to apply for a PGWP please contact us or  book a consultation.
